FOCUS

Can you trust yourself?  Proverbs 28:26 reminds us that, "He that trusth in his own heart is a fool:.."  Jeremiah 17:5 warns us that, "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD."  And Isaiah 26:3 informs us that, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee."  Too many in ages past and in this present age have lost the ability to know what they should be focusing on.  The last seven words in Jeremiah 17:5, we find the key to our focus.  In all of the how to books written to enhance the mind of man, non is more revealing then "The Word of God".  Verse 7 further states, "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD."  You may be now asking yourself, why has this piece been titled focus when you are talking about trust?  Good question.  Note that whatever your focus is, your response will either be focused on a false trust in it or a trust that is true.

In the garden, Adam and Eve were naked.  This means that not only were they sinless; they also were - Not Ashamed.  Their innocence from disobedience to the Word of God allowed them to be naked before Him.  They had nothing to hide.  Until we as men/women, boys/girls can be open and repent of our disobedience to God, we will always find ourselves failing to focus on the true issue of our sinful nature.

Read Genesis 3 again.  Adam blamed the woman and God for his actions while Eve blamed the serpent for hers.  Neither one of them were willing to focus on the real problem of their disobedience; themselves. They immediate concocted a lie and pursued it rather than the truth.  Here we see that when you focus on a lie long enough, it will eventually become your truth.  Once it becomes your truth it will take root in your spirit man and become a stronghold.  The mixture of fleshly desires and carnal lust are the ingredients Satan uses to prepare a dish; a meal that many, like Esau consumed at the expense of his birthright.  As Esau gave up his right to be first born, Adam gave up his.

Whenever you find yourself focusing more on things in the natural, when you pursue them you always will lose more in the spiritual.
